Hydra

Hydra island is located just 20 min. away from our dock and is considered to be the little gem of the Argosaronic sea. Though quite a few years passed since S. Loren stepped ashore the town, rising amphitheatrically around the port seems unchanged from how it appeared in the film “The Boy on a Dolphin” which made Hydra famous. Any vehicle is forbidden, so the only way to get around is on foot or the back of a donkey. Its highlights include the mansions of the revolutionary era sea captains, the statue of the war hero Miaoulis and the canons that protected the port during the Revolutionary war in 1821. Everything in Hydra, functions with unbelievable simplicity. Right next to the port, along the rocks of the Spilia and Ydroneta café bars, you can combine a swim with a coffee or a drink while also listening to music. If you don’t mind walking, head for the organized beaches at Vlychos, Palamidas and Molos, each with its own little tavern. These beaches are also accessible by fishing boat or tour boats from the port. You can reach Bisti in the same way. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Hydra with pine trees, right down to the waterline. The last stop on the tour boat is Agios Nikolaos. As you follow the coastline, various tiny bays will take your breath away, but these are not for the fainthearted. There are various traditional tavernas, roof terraces restaurants all overlooking the sea.
